G13's history is shrouded by mystery and reads a lot like a conspiracy theory. Some say it was bred by scientists from the CIA and FBI as part of a project to develop ultra-potent cannabis varieties. Based at the University of Mississippi, the secret government mission is said to have produced a number of super-hybrids in the late 1960s. Adding another twist to the urban legend is the alleged theft-for-a-cause by a lab technician who then went on to reproduce the strain for the masses.
Whether the story is true or not, what's certain is that G13 has a THC content of up to 24%. It sends the mind off on a soaring and euphoric high, while at the same time numbing the whole body with immense, couch-locking relaxation. Due to such traits, it's best enjoyed in the evenings or when the schedule is clear enough to allow a long, deep sleep.
Providing relief is also within G13's remit. It's been used to help alleviate chronic pain, anxiety, depression, stress, insomnia and poor appetite. Because of its potent psychoactive capacity, though, this sweet and earthy bud must be consumed in moderation. Over-indulging can cause unwanted side effects such as dizziness, headache and paranoia.
Seasoned consumers with a bit of gardening experience and patience can cultivate their own G13 crop from Homegrown Cannabis Co.'s feminized seeds. An all-female army is easier to work with and yields are not compromised, so rearing a massive personal stash while saving a lot of cash is entirely possible.
Growing G13 Feminized Seeds
G13 has light green buds with striking orange pistils throughout. The nugs are dense, pungent and shimmering with potency, and the foliage can demonstrate either Indica or Sativa characteristics, depending on the phenotype.
The plant is very resistant to mold and pests, but its canopy and branches must be groomed to give its huge buds ample room to grow. Doing so also allows sufficient airflow and light penetration, which, of course, boosts the overall health of the plant.
G13 is a prolific yielder as long as it's given an optimal home. It flourishes in a dry climate with temperatures between 64 and 84°F. Indoors, it produces up to 1.96 ounces per square foot after 10 to 11 weeks of flowering. To boost its yield potential, you can grow four or more of the plants at the same time in a Sea of Green (SOG) setup.
While its productivity in a controlled environment is pretty heavy, G13 is even more astounding when grown outdoors. In places with a Mediterranean-type climate, a harvest of 35 ounces per plant is perfectly possible. It's proven to be particularly generous in locations like California, Australia and Southern Europe. In the northern hemisphere, a mega harvest can be collected by the end of October to mid-November.
Fragrance and Flavor
It's suspected that G13 contains Afghani genetics because of its earthy, loam-like pungency. Its complex bouquet also boasts sweet berry notes and a very mild Skunk stench. Surprisingly, the flavor profile is much simpler. The saccharine hit is still present, but there's an unexpected and delightful twist of pine and sandalwood.
Effects
A good rest – as critical as it is in today's hectic world – can be difficult to achieve, because worries and physical strains are difficult to switch off. The good news is that relaxation is G13's forte.
The skyrocketing high imparts a boost of euphoria that hits almost immediately. It elevates the mood, which translates to a happier demeanor all round. At the same time, it induces a clear-headed effect that keeps the mind functional.
As the cerebral flight soars further, the body falls victim to the bud's heavy, limb-lulling control. The drowsiness is profound, causing intense laziness and locking users to the couch. Hunger also kicks in, so it's best to prepare snacks before taking a hit. Eventually, the sedative properties will become too strong to ignore, and a long, deep sleep will likely follow.
Medical
G13's (up to) 24% THC level makes it a potent recreational strain with immense medicinal potential. It's a great choice for those who need relief but prefer to experience it while flying high. Don't over-indulge, though, as it may cause cottonmouth or dry eyes, and in a worst-case scenario, dizziness, headache, and paranoia may also be experienced. As long as it's used in moderation, it may have a number of benefits.
The strain is said to have analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties that make it a powerful painkilling agent. It's been used to alleviate discomfort caused by the likes of PMS, migraine, headaches, arthritis, fibromyalgia and multiple sclerosis. Its vigorous anxiolytic and antidepressant traits may reduce anxiety, depression, stress and bipolar tendencies.
It also stimulates the appetite with its infamous 'munchies' effect. It may bring back the desire for food taken away by metabolic problems, HIV, hepatitis, chemotherapy or eating disorders.
Finally, after providing mental and physical relief, the sedative function hits in full force, potentially helping insomniacs to get a restful night's sleep and to wake up feeling fully recharged the next day.
Feminized G13 Seeds
G13's high THC strength brings intense euphoria with immense, couch-locking relaxation that usually ends in a deep sleep. It may also have a number of medicinal applications, such as the alleviation of chronic pain, anxiety, depression, stress, insomnia and lack of appetite.
Growing G13 from Homegrown Cannabis Co.'s feminized seeds makes the pursuit a lot simpler, but still just as fruitful. You could get your hands on up to 35 ounces from a single outdoor-grown plant and around 1.96 ounces for every square foot of indoor space.
